BBA's 4th Annual Business Summit was held on January 5, 2006, at Champlain College in the new   IDX Student Life Center. Below is the information distributed at the Summit about how YOU can have an impact on Burlington's future.

You CAN Have An Impact On The Future of Burlington

How?

The Burlington Business Association’s Mission is to advocate for the business community and to offer opportunities for members to gain information and to get actively involved. You can make your voice heard.  If you are interested in the following areas, here are just a few ways to stay informed and get involved.

  • Economic Vision  Zoning Rewrite meetings: Share your input with the Planning Commission about how the commercial areas of Burlington should grow in the future
    • Attend the Public Forum on the Zoning Rewrite on Thursday, January 26, 2006, at 6:30 PM in Contois Auditorium at City Hall. This meeting will include a question and answer period.  If you would like to see the current zoning rewrite proposal, go to the Planning Department's website at www.ci.burlington.vt.us/planning.  It is important that the business community weigh in at this stage of the rewrite.
  • Transportation Planning
    • Attend monthly BBA’s Waterfront Action Group Meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 8 AM at ECHO, or
    • Attend BBA’s Downtown Action Group Meetings at noon on the first Tuesday of each month. Click here for more information about joining a BBA Committee.
  • Marketing & Branding of Burlington
    • Attend monthly Tourism Committee Meetings the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 8 AM at the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce. Contact Tim Shea at tim@vermont.org to be included
    • Attend the Marketing Summit co-sponsored by BBA, the Church Street Marketplace and CEDO on March 2, 2006.  It will be held at 60 Lake Street from 8 AM – 10 AM. Call BBA at 863-1175 for reservations.

Also, check the information page on the BBA website for updates on issues and activity affecting the business community, like the upcoming March vote on the Local Option Sales Tax.
