Art is everywhere in Burlington-

A Graffiti prevention strategy

The South End of Burlington was the place to be in early September with

SEABA’s 15th Annual Art Hop, and you can still enjoy unique works of art that are on display in the Pine Street area.  And check out the new public art installed in downtown, thanks to a partnership of four Burlington City Departments:City Arts, Telecom, Electric and Public Works. DPW spends a great deal of time cleaning graffiti off of its property, and the gray traffic control boxes scatted throughout downtown Burlington, with their large blank surfaces have been an ideal target for vandals. As an experiment, DPW sponsored the commissioning of three traffic control box murals in the downtown area this summer. Artists received $500 for their time and materials and will receive an additional $250 to keep their murals free of graffiti for a year. Dave Garen, signal technician for DPW, hopes that the new

The First United Methodist Church of Burlington, at the corner of Buell Street and South Winooski Avenue, will be holding their Annual Harvest Luncheon Wednesday, October 24, 2007.  There are two seating times:   11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.   The cost is $8.00 per person.  Tables seat 10 people so groups of ten (or less) may sit together.  The menu includes:  Chicken and Biscuits, Winter Squash, Baked Beans, Coleslaw, Pickled Beets, and Apple, Pumpkin and Mincemeat pies.   Please call Church Office Manager Carol Blanshine at 862-1151 to make reservations or for more information.
