in BBA Has Many Benefits! Such as…….
· Advocacy:

The BBA’s Board develops policy and the executive director maintains regular
contact with city leaders and departments, and other business
organizations and committees, representing your
interest when issues are raised that affect Burlington businesses
and the vitality of our city.

Networking:
o
Members develop business-to-business relationships with
others who care about the future of Burlington. BBA’s membership
includes 200 businesses and non-profit organizations that
work together to enhance and promote the economic vitality of
Burlington. Members represent all sectors of the Burlington
economy, including retail stores, banks, restaurants, the media,
education, professional and creative services, health care and
more. The majority of members are located in Burlington, but other
area businesses have also joined in order to participate and
network with the Burlington business community.

Action:

The BBA is the voice of Burlington business,
actively engaged in the economic and quality-of-life issues facing
our vibrant city today. We do so through the efforts of our executive director and
members who volunteer their time through various committees
focused on the Waterfront and Downtown, Marketing and Development, Programs
and Promotions Some specific accomplishments over the last 28
years:
§ 2008
Projects include involvement with the City in transportation
planning, Downtown and Waterfront infrastructure improvements, enhanced parking,
and preparations for the 2009 Quadricentennial Celebration.

BBA has a long history of working closely with the
City of Burlington on projects and policy that enhance the
economic vitality of the City. For example
§
BBA members helped to create the Church Street Marketplace
and has supported its development since it first opened in 1981.
BBA is a founding member of the Downtown
Partnership, and works closely with the Church Street
Marketplace and the City on initiatives such as creating a
Hospitality Resource Panel..
§
Two hours Free Parking in city owned garages and the
Free College Street Shuttle were
promoted and supported by BBA.
§
BBA helped organize the Community Outreach (Downtown
Streetwork) Program
that provides mental health services at the street level under the
leadership of Matt Young.
Member events, services & privileges:

BBA sponsors interesting and educational monthly
membership meetings.
o
Members enjoy annual social events such as the
Holiday Party, Summer Social and Annual Dinner in April.
o
Members receive a quarterly newsletter, The
Downtowner.
o
Members save money and promote their businesses with
MEMBER-TO-MEMBER DISCOUNTS, use of the BBA BULK RATE
STAMP (save $150 per year annual fee!), FREE LINK to
their website from the BBA website, and NEWSLETTER INSERTS
for just $50 per page to over 350 influential people.
