Love your downtown… by supporting the

Community Outreach Team!

That’s the theme of our fundraising effort that began with the BBA membership meeting at Fletcher Allen on February 2.

You have seen Matt Young and his team of social workers on the street in downtown seven days a week from 8 AM – 6 PM assisting people with mental illness, substance abuse, homelessness and unmet social service needs.

In the last year alone the Community Outreach Team documented 8,000 contacts with 800 different people.

The Team helps prevent anti-social behaviors and reduce the need for multiple emergency services.

The Program is administered through the Howard Center for Human Services, with coordination by the United Way.  Funding comes from Fletcher Allen Health Care, the Howard Center for Human Services, the United Way of Chittenden County, the City of Burlington Police Department and Local Law Enforcement Block Grants, the State, Church Street Marketplace, CCTA and Burlington businesses.
