This is different from Williston, where all clothing and shoes are subject to their 1% local sales tax.

The tax will be collected and administered by the state, and reimbursed to the City quarterly.  If you have questions you can contact the state taxpayer service section at 802-828-2551.

Beginning July 1st Burlington businesses will collect the new 1% Local Option Sales Tax on products and/or services that are currently subject to the Vermont 6% sales tax.  If an item is exempt from the Vermont Sales Tax, it will also be exempt from the City sales tax. For example, clothing and shoes priced less than $110 are exempt.
