development in Burlington and we need to take advantage of all available to help combat the shortage of residential and commercial space in the city. ..Let's start working together to encourage the business community to take advantage of cheap parking at Gilbane and free shuttles in and out of downtown during rush hour.  CCTA will pay for cab rides for users of this facility in case of emergency.  Most downtown workers don't need their cars between 9 AM and 5 PM.”

The BBA Board is exploring the possibility of creating - in cooperation with the City, CATMA and the MPO - a Downtown Transportation Management Association of employers that identifies ways to keep our economy strong while developing the kinds of incentives and alternatives for employee parking and transportation that Erik mentions.

How you can help:  Express your views at the public hearings on the Zoning Rewrite this month.  Fill out the employer survey that will be distributed this summer.  And attend Transportation Plan public hearings in the Fall.

The May meeting of the Church Street Marketplace included a fond farewell to Frank Bouchett of HomePort, and was one of the first for Robert Fuller of Leunig’s.  Lois Bodoky and Tuck Rainwater have also retired and Brian Kling is leaving the Commission this month.  New members will be appointed by the City Council soon. Congratulations to Westaff on their 25th Anniversary!  Fran Mount writes: “We celebrated 25 years in business on 5/22 with a hot dog roast for all our temps in our front yard at the office.  We were all decorated up inside and out and caused quite the stir on Main Street!  Of course, we owe all our successes to our fabulous temporary employees and to our marvelous office staff.  We thank our community for all their friendship and business.”

BBA’s booth at the Vermont Business & Industry EXPO had a new look this year, thanks to Kevin Owens of Select Design and Chris Reck of Direct Design,  and the Marketing & Communications Committee that they co-chair.  BBA treasurer Sherry Prehoda of JMM & Associates joins them in the booth. The new panels were designed by Chris Reck and printed by PhotoGarden.
